Natural therapies for treating common ailments are so intriguing to me. I have my fair share of inflammation due to tendinitis and mild carpal tunnel. And who doesn’t get occasional stress and anxiety!? As one who isn’t keen on taking prescription medications due to the associated side effects, I have sought out the more holistic therapies for inflammation like turmeric and my new love, CBD oil. After two months now of taking CBD oil drops daily, I have noticed a lessening of my inflammation, I feel calm, relaxed and I sleep like a log!
Not only is CBD oil beneficial for humans, it is safe and effective for pets as well. We both have an endocanabinoid system that is lipid-derived and maintain’s homeostasis in the body. CBD oil (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid derived from industrial hemp. Some of the common ailments that CBD can be useful for in treating include:
- Allergies (can help skin conditions)
- Cancer (shown to inhibit tumor growth and kill cancer cells)
- Digestive issues (IBD, Crohn’s, etc)
- Joint and mobility issues
- Effects of chemotherapy (decreases nausea and vomiting)
- Antibiotic properties
The BEST part about CBD oil is that is is non-psychoactive (no THC that causes the high from marijuana buds). It is also non-habit forming, there are no side effects and you cannot overdose.
I constantly recommended CBD oil for my clients. All of which report such rapid, amazing results of less anxiety, limited to zero seizures and decreased inflammation from arthritis! I use Super Snouts Phyto-90 oil on my 17 year old cat who has pretty severe arthritis. He is always out now compared to being by himself before. He plays and runs up stairs with our other two cats and has a sparkle back in his eyes!
If you are wanting to read up on CBD benefits for pets, I recommend a great book I read called Cannabis and CBD Science for Dogs by D. Caroline Coile, Ph.D.
I continually educate myself on the science behind and benefits of CBD. I encourage you to do your own research or ask me questions on it and how it can help your pet. I think you will be pretty impressed!
